We would like to share with you a number of publication opportunities. Our conference is supported by four journals. Journal of Research in Economics (Marmara Uni.), Yıldız Social Science Review (Yıldız Uni.), Review of Middle East Economics and Finance, Topics in Middle Eastern and North African Economies (Proceedings of MEEA). We are also going to publish abstracts of the presented papers in a proceedings book (e-book). For special issues notify us about your journal choice and please email your revised manuscripts by the 1st of December.
In addition to these publication opportunities we also would like to take announce the Ibn Khaldun Prize of MEEA. To qualify for the Prize, an applicant must send the paper in electronic form to Professor Jeffrey B. Nugent, Chair of the Selection Committee at email@example.com on before December 10. Nominations can also be suggested by senior economists participating in sessions where they hear or read a paper by a young economist which they believe may qualify for the award.

I would like to welcome you all to the 19th International Conference of the Middle East Economic Association hosted by the Piri Reis University.
Our University was established in 2008. We are mainly specializing all areas of maritime discipline including maritime transport engineering, naval engineering, shipbuilding, maritime business and economics, maritime law. Now we have about 5200 students. We are teaching at undergrad and grad levels. We are also very close to business environment thanks to our main founder and supporter Turkish Chamber of Shipping.
I wish we could host you on site in our beautiful sea-side campus. Unfortunately, this would not be possible because of the adverse effects of the pandemic.
So, this year this conference is being held in an Online format due to Covid-19. We are aware that this will be the first online conference of MEEA which increases our excitement. Once the pandemic is over we would be more than happy to host all of you in our campus here in Tuzla, İstanbul.
During this three-day conference, around 200 academicians are going to present and discuss different papers on a set of diversified topics. We are going to host more than 100 papers within 30 separate sessions. You will find sessions on economic developments, labor markets, macroeconomic policies, financial markets and institutions among many others. We are going to host academics from different universities and international institutions such as World Bank, OECD.
We believe this conference will facilitate further collaborations between our institutions and academicians. I am very pleased to notice that our scientific program received valuable contributions from many distinguished scholars. First not the least I am grateful to Professor Şevket Pamuk for addressing the Keynote Speech of the conference. I also would like to thank to our invited speakers and panelist for their contributions to our scientific program. Lastly, we are extremely excited to see such a vibrant audience.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the MEEA Board and Wassim Shahin for their cooperation with the Piri Reis University. I also thank to Prof. Erhan Aslanoglu and all distinguished members of Organizing Committee and Scientific Committee.
